Country Music News…..

If I had worked my weekend out right, I would be on my way to Nashville right now. Randy Houser will be on stage at the Grand Ole Opry at 7 p.m. tonight. I am so happy to see things going so well for Randy. He’s so talented, and such a nice person.

Some of the other performers for tonight’s shows at the Opry are Jeannie Seely, Jim Ed Brown, John Conlee and Buddy Jewell.

James Otto James Otto will be joining Alan Jackson and Trace Adkins on the Good Times tour this fall. The trio will open the tour in Fayetteville, N.C. on Oct. 17. They will pay 17 shows.

Sunset Man, his debut album, hit shelves in April and debuted at No. 3 on the Top 200 Billboard Chart. “JUst Got Started Loving You,” was the most played song on country radio in 2008, according to Mediabase.

Locally, fans will get to catch James at the Washington County Fair in Abingdon, Va. on Sept. 8.

Joey Rory Any of you who watched CMT’s show Can You Duet, will remember Joey and Rory Feek. The duo has just signed a recording contract with Vanguard/Sugar Hill Productions. Their first single “Cheater Cheater” is a song they performed on the television show, and one that got a lot of “positive audience feedback.”

If any of you are passing through Pottsville, Tenn. (I’m going to have to MapQuest that town), be sure to stop in at Marcy Jo’s Mealhouse, a diner there owned by Rory. The couple will release their new album sometime this fall.

KGG-000362 Kenny Chesney has set up his own record lable, Blue Chair, and has leased his next album release, Lucky Old Sun, to BNA. Right now, Kenny is the only artist recording on Blue Chair. But, with Kenny at the head of that label… I don’t think it will be long until others join him.

His newest single, “Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven,” hit radio airways on Monday sporting the new Blue Chair logo alongside the BNA mark. The song was originally recorded by George Strait for his recent album, Troubadour.

“Everything in that song is everything we all think,” Chesney said in an article on gactv.com. “I don’t know anyone who doesn’t want to go to heaven, but nobody wants to go today. If you could pick [when you die], you wouldn’t pick right now. You’d want to live, to do more things, to have more fun.”

TC207 Terri Clark, who was the winner of last year’s Fans’ Choice Award at the Canadian Country Music Awards, recently announced the nominees for this year’s event.]

According to the nomination list, Jessie Farrell could head home with an armload of trophies this year. She has been nominated for Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, CMT Video of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Top New Talent of the Year-Female and Fans’ Choice. She is also performing at the CCMA Awards.

That’s all for now. You guys have a great weekend. And if any of you are at the Grand Ole Opry tonight – Say “Hi” to Randy Houser for me! Write when you have time – more later!
