New Nick About 3 weeks ago (March 31 to be exact), I gave you all a little introduction to Nick Nicholson, an East Tennessee native currently residing in Arizona — and one of country music’s newest country artists.

I received an e-mail today from Nick’s manager, Cindy Goldney. She told me Nick just finished his new CD in Nashville, and some of the songs are on his MySpace page. Cindy also told me that two of Nick’s songwriters are Keith Urban and Richie McDonald (Lonestar). Nick will be opening for Billy Currington in Scottsdale, Ariz., on May 16, and is scheduled for be at the CMA Music Festival (Fan Fair) from June 5-8.

Copy (2) of KeithNC Speaking of Keith Urban, did any of you see that EBAY bid? Two tickets and backstage passes were offered on EBay, there were 48 bids. The winning bid, $4,502. The winning bidder was davienater. I think Davie REALLLLLY wanted to go that concert. It was a charity auction bid.

Trace Adkins will perform “You’re Gonna Miss This,” on May 2, on The Young And The Restless on CBS (12:30-1:30 P.M.).

On May 5, he will be on E! Entertainment’s Chelsea Lately, hosted by Chelsea Handler.  And on May 5, for those of us who stay up late, he will be on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show (11:30 p.m., NBC).

Jason Aldean Concert May 2

April 20, 2008

Copy of JasonAl Jason Aldean will be headlining at the May 2 concert, with his opening act Lady Antebellum. The concert is right around the corner now, and I know everyone is getting excited about seeing Jason back in Northeast Tennessee.

By the way, when you check out Jason’s web site, don’t forget to sign up for your chance to win an autographed guitar. To go directly to the page to sign up to win the guitar, click here.

“Hicktown”, “Johnny Cash”, “Amarillo Sky,” and “Laughed Until We Cried,” are the songs I remember most when I think of Jason Aldean. He’s a talented, energetic, fun performer, who makes his entire audience feel like they are a real part of his show.

Jason1 For those of you in the Philadelphia area, Jason will be joining Tim McGraw on the 2008 Live Your Voice Tour in Philly on June 13. Tickets went on sale yesterday morning (April 19 at 10 a.m.), I wonder how long it will take to sell out that show.

A little “Idol” trivia here – Kristy Lele Cook, who was just voted off American Idol, said shewould love to sing a duet with Jason. “I met him a long time ago…and he’s my favorite male country singer, so I definitely would love to sing with him,” Kristy said. I suppose she might get her chance one day, but it won’t be in the final weeks of Idol, since she’s no longer in the running.

Following his Viking Hall performance, Jason has shows coming up in Myrtle Beach, S.C., at the House of Blues on May 3; WKXC Day in Augusta, Ga., May 4; The Ford Amphitheater in Tampa, Fla., May 9; Sound Advice in W.  Palm Beach, Fla., May 10; and the Verizon Amphitheater in Charlotte, N.C. May 16. Be sure to check out Jason’s tour schedule (through the end of August) on his web site.

I’ll talk to you guys soon, enjoy the rest of your weekend. And please, keep the e-mails and the comments coming. I love hearing form all of you.

Travis Tritt and Josh Turner

March 13, 2008

RSCN04110055_055_216 Travis Tritt had to cancel his March 3 concert in Plant City, Fla., due to illness. We all hope he’s doing well now!

He keeps his tour calendar full, with the following dates among those on his extremely busy schedule:  March 14, Altoona, Iowa; March 15-16, Hinckley, Minn.; March 19, Nashville; March 21, Savannah, Ga.; March 28, Wendover, Nev.; March 29, Laughlin, Nev.; and March 30, Reno, Nev. Travis will also be in Sandusky, Ohio, on June 8, for Bike Week.

Josh Turner’s current CD, “Everything is Fine, which includes the songs “Firecracker” and “Another Try” (featuring Trisha Yearwood), is currently No. 18 on Country’s Album Charts.240841R12625A_25A_081

Most people think of “Long Black Train,” whenever they think of Josh Turner. But he’s had many hits during his career. Josh writes a lot of his songs, and this quote is on his web page. “The life that I live and the experiences that I have always affect what comes out of me creatively. I think that’s what makes music real.”  I believe his fans think so, too.

240841R12221A_21A_077 Upcoming concert dates for Josh include March 18 in Bethlehem, Pa. (that will be  his first of many concert dates with Carrie Underwood). The tour with Carrie will take him through May 25, and they will play 25 cities during that tour.

On June 11, Josh will be part of the Riverbend Festival in Chattanooga. After that he is set to play State Fairs through September 6.

That’s it for tonight. You guys have a great evening, and a fabulous Friday! Have a good weekend, too.

Kenny & John … with Gretchen Wilson

March 12, 2008

John Rich, who just finished up his reality television show for CMT, is pictured here with his partner, Big Kenny. The photos were taken at Freedom Hall in Johnson City. It was the Chevy Presents … The American Revolution Tour.

Looks like John isn’t done with Reality television quite yet either. He and Big Kenny will be the first “judge/mentor” on the next season of “Nashville Star”. It is being reported that Nashville Star will move from USA network to NBC, and will be part of the early Summer lineup. Tuesday March 18, they will be in Houston, Texas – and are then open until April 4, when they will be at the Texas Motor Speedway.

Gretchen Wilson‘s web page is telling us that the entertainer recently performed with Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider, Staind’s Aaron Lewis and others, at a fund raiser. The benefit raised $175,000 for the survivors of the nightclub fire that occurred during a performance by the 80s rock band, Great White in 2003.

The event took place at a Dunkin Donuts near the scene of the fire in Rhode Island. It will be aired on VH1 on Easter Sunday. The proceeds will go to the Station Family Fund, which was created to help pay survivor’s medical bills.

You can always count on your country entertainers to join in wherever help is needed.

Gretchen is currently in Canada, and as I mentioned in an earlier blog – she will be at Herrah’s Cherokee Casino in Cherokee, N.C. on April 18 and 19. Thanks again to Brittany Johnson for the photos on today’s blog!
