Kellie Pickler joins fair line-up

February 29, 2008

Kellie Pickler performs on April 11 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on AMERICAN IDOL. Kellie Pickler, pictured here from an American Idol appearance, is now scheduled for the Washington County Fair in Abingdon, Va. She will be there Wednesday, Sept. 10.

That’s just one day ahead of Trent Tomlinson, and 3 days before Bucky Covington. Remember to visit Buckymaina  – Winnie does such a great job with that site, I’m sure everyone will enjoy it.

It looks like the Washington County Fair is putting together a great lineup for this year.

I’m really curious about the entertainment coming in for the rest of our area fairs this summer.

I need to send a shout out to Brittney, who took this photo of Bucky…thanks for that, Brittney – and thanks so much for sending my blog address to all your “fair friends” via e-mail. Appreciate that so much.

I’ll talk to you guys tomorrow!

Pat Green

February 27, 2008

045_45 Pat Green is spending a little time in the warmer parts of the U.S. — can’t say that I blame him. He will be in Tampa, Fla. Feb. 29, and Orlando on March 1. Then he’s off to Texas, with shows in Corpus Christi on March 15, Houston on Mach  21, and Austin on March 22.

046_46 Ever since “Wave on Wave,” his fans always look forward to the next release from Pat. His “Feels Just Like It Should,” from the Cannonball CD, did well on the country charts, and we know he has a lot more like that in his future. Pat puts on a great show, and everyone really enjoys his performances. These photos are from the Appalachian Fair in Gray, TN. I’m anxious to see what Pat has on his tour schedule for the summer of 2008.

Hope to hear from more of you soon. Please continue to send photos for posting, comments, questions, ideas and suggestions. It’s always good hearing from each of you. Talk to you soon!

Happenings at the Opry

February 25, 2008

I017_17f you want to see everyone who is anyone in the world of Country Music, you can always head to Nashville to see who’s on the schedule at the Grand Ole Opry.  Charlie Daniels will hit the Opry stage on March 8.

Other entertainers who recently performed at the Grand Ole Opry include Terri Clark, Keith Anderson, and Trent Tomlinson. 037_37 Information on Opry tickets can be found on their web site, along with performance schedules, and other information about the Opry. It’s one site I visit often, as you might expect, the address is

Head on over to that Opry site and while you are there, register to win the autographed guitar. Some of the autographs on the guitar are those of Carrie Underwood, Trace Adkins, Dierks Bentley, Loretta Lynn, Sara Evans, Ronnie Milsap, Charlie Daniels, and Vince Gill!

Talk to you all tomorrow!

A little of this a little of that…

February 24, 2008

Autographed AJ WXBQ radio’s Reggie Neel had this picture of Alan Jackson on his personal web site. I got to visit with Reggie this afternoon and asked if I could use the picture here – he said, “Sure, anything you want.” Anything, Reggie???

Reggie had a telephone conversation with Alan Jackson last week, and they talked about Alan’s new album that will be out March 4.  ♫♪♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫ ♫♪♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫ Alan wrote all of the songs for the CD, which was produced by Keith Stegall. There are 17 cuts on the project and included is a duet with Martina McBride. The lead single, Alan’s current release, is “Small Town Southern Man.”

Thanks for the info, Reggie, and for the use of the picture.

Kenny and ReggieThese two very handsome guys are Reggie, and a very young Kenny Chensey, with hair! This was back when Kenny was promoting his first CD. It was taken at our K-Mart in Johnson City, TN. Kenny has recently announed his tour schedule, from April 18 through Sept. 13, on his web site. I don’t see any northeast Tennessee dates on there, Kenny. We would love to have you back home for a concert every now and then. Kenny’s song, “Shift Work” with George Strait is currently at No. 5 on the Country Top 40. Remember “How forever feels.”? That Chesney hit has been selected as the 15th greatest love song on People Magazine’s list of “the Greatest 25 Love Songs.”

Keep writing, keep sending those photos, info, and ideas for my little blog. I appreciate your help! More later.

Did you know…..?

February 24, 2008

038_38 …that in addition to being a great singer and very talented performer, Dierks Bently plays hockey? The new People Magazine (March 2008 – Hottest Country Stars!) has a photograph of Dierks in his hockey uniform. He is now in two amateur (coed) leagues in Nashville, the Iceholes and the Rogue Rats. Pictured here with Dierks is a friend of mine, Jane Rodifer. I got to keep the picture where Jane was getting an autograph – Jane got to keep the picture where she was getting a hug. Way to go Jane!

LB1 This issue of People is great. There is a interesting little article called “The Boots Stars Love.” Some are gorgeous … and the price range is unbelievable. Luke Bryan likes Lucchese Classic Boots in cherry ostrich and goat, and they are $1,200. Josh Turner, a bit more thrifty likes the Ariat Legend boots in black deertan for $169.95. And then, there’s Willie Nelson – his Lucchese classic custom boots in black crocodile with turquoise cost a mere $4,000.  They’re great looking boots … but I think I’ll stay with the discount store variety.

I’m going go sit down, prop my bootless feet up, and finish reading the magazine. I’ll talk to you guys tomorrow.

Award-winning Oaks

February 23, 2008

043_43 This picture was taken at the Tennessee Valley Fair in Knoxville. Can’t really see Richard very well, he was hiding off on the right. But there’s Joe, Duane and William Lee, singing to a very large group of fair visitors. I don’t know if any of you realize it, but The Oak Ridge Boys have won just about every award the music world has to give, and they have been doing it for more than three decades. Honors they can push over to their win column include Grammy Awards, Country Music Association, Academy of Country Music, Dove Awards, Billboard/Wembly Festival (United Kingdom), Billboard, Record World, Cash Box, Kountry Korrall Magazine (Sweden), Music City News Fair Awards, Juke Box Operators of America…. and the list goes on.

Oaks The photo on the right is from the Crook & Chase show, which premiered on Jan. 17, 2008. Now, that’s a good-looking group. I don’t think Garth Brooks has changed at all since he started in country music sometime in the late 80’s.

Have a great weekend everyone. Talk to you soon.

All you have to do is ask….

February 22, 2008

AJfanfair2 I mentioned in my last Post that I would like to have a picture of Alan Jackson – without a hat. And, I got two of them! They came in an e-mail from “AJ Fan”. I couldn’t wait to pass them on to all of you. I just wrote back to “AJ Fan” to see if I can get some information – where these were taken, when they were taken, and who took the pictures. I appreciate getting them, but would really like to have a little more information about them. So AJ — let me hear from you again!

ajhatl_1 The one on the right, the e-mail said, was taken by Linda Davis. But it didn’t say who she is or where she lives, or where the photograph was taken. So Linda, wherever you are – thank you for passing it on to AJ Fan so she could pass it on to me. It really is a great photo.

I saw Alan in concert at Knoxville a number of years ago – and I don’t think it would surprise anyone to hear that he put on a really great show. I look forward to seeing him again sometime.

Enough for now — again, my thanks go out to AJ Fan! Hope you all enjoy these photos, too.

Not the way we usually see them….

February 21, 2008

001_1 Do you recognize this pretty lady? It’s Terri Clark, without her hat. I’ve only ever seen Terri in concert once, where this picture was taken, but I’ve been told she takes off her hat at least once during every concert, to give her fans an opportunity to get a photo of her “hatless.”

I wonder if Alan Jackson has ever been to one of her concerts? He might take the hint from this, that we’d like to have a picture or two of him without a hat, too. Think about it, Alan.

003_3 OK, I’ll be the first to admit this IS the way we always saw Blake Shelton – until recently. His long, curly locks are gone. I guess it’s just the “Mom” coming out in me, but I think he looks much better with the shorter hair.

A recent issue of Country Weekly Magazine ( had an exclusive interview with Blake, and a great photo of him with the short hair. It’s a good article, written by David Scarlett.

Blake spent a lot of time in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia at the start of his career – he did the Appalachian Fair, Washington County Fair, and Tennessee Valley Fair, and also did a “meet & greet” at Wiseman’s Clothing Store in Johnson City. But we haven’t seen him around here for a while — hope he puts us back on that very busy touring schedule of his.

That’s it for tonight. Talk to you guys later!

Who is this?

February 21, 2008

025_25 Anyone recognize this person? Of course I know who it is. The picture is from my photo album. I was just curious as to whether or not any of you remember him. I thought he was great. Very talented singer, great guitarist, and a genuinely nice person.

He had one record, which I believe made it to number one; and one that probably made it to the Top Ten. This picture was taken at a little club in Bristol… about 4 years ago, I guess it was. (I need to learn to date things).

He is from Southwest, Virginia, and I would really like to know what he’s been doing lately. His name is Clay Davidson, and the song he’s most remembered for was “Unconditional.”

Remember to write! I just love hearing from you … and Winnie, thanks so much for mentioning Country’s Chatter on your absolutely great Buckymaina site. I’ve got you listed under my links – so everyone, whether you’re a Bucky Covington fan or not (and I can’t think of anyone who isn’t) – go check out Winnie’s site!

More later,

Jamie O’Neil

February 21, 2008

026_26 Hi again. I think I’ve discovered the cause of my computer problems – well, I didn’t, at least not by myself. I try to keep a very close friendship with those folks who are have a lot of technical talent. So thanks to Anthony (my extremely smart co-worker), and Stephen (my extremely smart son), for putting up with my lack of technical know-how.

Wanted to share this photo of Jamie O’Neal that was taken a few years ago – back before she had her daughter, in fact. Jamie is still touring nationally, and lives in Nashville with her daughter, Aliyah, and her husband, Rodney Good. (Rodney is from Gray, TN – notice Jamie’s Daniel Boone High School sweatshirt).

See you guys tomorrow. Take care!
