Gone Country

Click here to see Gone Country at CMT.com.Have any of you been keeping up with Gone Country, the new CMT show hosted by John Rich? I wish I could say I’ve been there for every episode, but unfortunately, real life sometimes gets in the way of “reality” TV, and I’m usually doing something else when the show comes on.

However, here it is in a nutshell. John Rich, with a little help from the show’s producers, directors, etc., has taken seven celebrity singers form different areas of music, and moved them to Nashville. He put them all up in one very large (extremely nice) house, and they are competing for a country music recording contract.

The celebrities competing are Carnie Wilson, daughter of Beach Boy Brian Wilson, and onetime member of the pop group Wilson Phillips; Dee Snider, lead singer form the heavy metal band, Twisted Sister; Julio Iglesias Jr., son of Julio Iglesias Sr., who had a No. 1 hit with Willie Nelson in 1984 (“All the Girls I’ve Loved Before”); Bobby Brown – Yep, Bobby has Gone Country; Maureen McCormick, best known for her role as Marsha Brady on the Brady Bunch – oh wait, I guess that’s not what she’s BEST known for, it’s probably the only thing we remember her doing; Sisqo, I think he’s a rapper – but I’m definitely not into that kind of music (sorry, Sisqo); and last but not least, Diana DeGarmo, who most of us remember from American Idol.

What I’ve seen of the show, I like. A little bit of delving into their personal lives; just watching the seven of them living in one house, all being so different, and yet getting along with minimal problems. It’s been a fun show to watch, and I hope I can see a little more of it. New episodes air on Friday nights at 8 p.m. on CMT.
